The Orient Express of the Viennese

Listen for yourself:

A ride in the historic steam locomotive is possible on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, as well as on Prater event days, from 12.15 pm onwards.

A train journey to the most exotic places onboard Vienna's Orient Express covers a distance of almost 4 km.

"All aboard!" – the call goes out every 15 minutes at the dedicated "Prater Main Station", which is just around the corner from the Giant Ferris Wheel.

Then the miniature railway sets off: from the super-busy Wurstelprater to the stadium. The trip feels like a mini long-distance journey and invites passengers to dream. Nostalgia spreads through the train when the little locomotive begins to rattle and steam. It heads out of the Prater's turmoil into the quiet, green alluvial forest. Every now and then you can hear the locomotive call from the forest – the typical signal of the steam train.

The journey continues along the main avenue, slowly and leisurely – even some of the joggers are faster. You can ride comfortably in an open wagon and enjoy the light breeze. As the train approaches the end station, things get loud again. The destination is reached when you hear the football fans cheering from the Ernst Happel Stadium and the call goes out: "All change!".
